I wouldn't get the H1N1 shot. Not only have they not tested it for many things why would you get a shot for something you "might" get. If Obama, his family and the creators of the shot are refusing it don't you think there may be something that they aren't telling us?
If you are pregnant with a baby why risk it?

Getting sick is also very risky...
The reason it was turned down is because there is a shortage and they are trying to save it for those most at risk.
The groups most at risk for H1N1 include pregnant women, people who care for children under 6-months of age, health-care personnel, young people aged 6-months to 24-years and people aged 24-64 who have health conditions that make them more susceptible to influenza. “People who do not fall within the high risk groups will be turned away,” said Rosamond Rhodes, a professor of bioethics at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
Heath officials are warning that it’s a big risk for pregnant women NOT to get vaccinated, though some women are concerned. According to Fox News, many women are concerned about Thimerosol, a component of some vaccines that contains mercury, blamed by vaccine opponents for causing Autism in children. Health professionals say this claim has not been proven through research.

To date there has been no reported dangers from the H1N1 vaccine. With every vaccine there are slight risks, including the ones we give our babies. There has, however, been reported dangers from pregnant women getting the swine flu and also reactions to the medecine they give after contracting the illness. (Tamiflu). Please read belew. I dont think they would be urging us to get the shot if they did not see a higher risk of getting sick. I know it depends on your lifestyle etc. My husband is a school teacher and brings home tons of germs. Also I read that being immune ourselves passes that immunity onto the baby and helps protect them against it after birth. Infants are in the second highest risk category after us. I found the following information helpful.
Pregnant women diagnosed with the H1N1 virus are said to be at a higher
risk of complications like pneumonia, dehydration and premature labor.
This reason is why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that they are pushing for the antiviral drug Tamiflu in pregnancy.
The effects of Tamiflu on an unborn child are currently unknown, according to an interview between The New York Times and its maker, Roche.
Tamiflu should be given to any pregnant patient with flu-like symptoms and a history of likely contact with someone else with swine flu, according to the CDC.
Rare but serious skin reactions and allergic reactions have been reported, according to the Tamiflu Web site. The Web site also mentions that people with the flu (particularly children and young adolescents) are at an increased risk of self-injury and confusion after administrating the antiviral drug.
Makers of the drug suggest close monitoring for unusual signals of behavior.
One of the three deaths in the United States involved a 33-year-old pregnant woman, Judy Trunnell, who was on no medication other than prenatal vitamins, according to the CDC.
Trunnell was eight months pregnant when she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Her baby was delivered by C-section and was healthy, but died May 4, because Tamiflu was administered to the infant too late.
“If I’m thinking influenza – the classic symptoms, febrile, aching all over, came on all of the sudden – and this flu in the community, and I’d otherwise give the patient Tamiflu if she wasn’t pregnant, we’re saying, ‘Don’t delay because she’s pregnant,’” said Dr. Denise Jamieson, a CDC medical officer, in an article from the Kansas City Star. “At that point, the benefit of giving Tamiflu outweighs the risk.”
Whatever you decide, be informed first!

I have never had a flu shot and have never found it appealing. I am trying to get pregnant and I will get the h1n1. Yes its new but at the same time I have weak lungs even for an avid runner. I couldn't imagine being 9 months pregnant with respiratory issues. I just figure its a situation where the risk is worth the benefits.
My only huge hang up is finding a vaccine with out Mercury preservative which is not out yet. Mercury preservative is the reason the MMR shot is being related to Autism. My 2 year old and I are are waiting for the non- mercury shots to come out before we get ours.
Good luck!

They told me my shot was mercury free...look what I read...
"Does the H1N1 vaccine contain mercury?
It turns out, the new H1N1 vaccine (the one that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and even President Obama have been pushing so strongly) contains an ingredient that may have some parents worrying. Thimerosal is a mercury-based preservative that has been phased out of childhood immunizations since 2001 due to concerns that the preservative MAY be linked to autism. But thimerosal (which is about half-mercury) will be found in most vials of the H1N1 vaccine. However, it may be possible to find doses that are thimerosal-free if you ask for single-dose shots. According to the CDC, "Single-dose syringes will be thimerosal-free, which will address concerns about this additive, especially regarding pediatric and pregnant vaccine recipients (inhaler sprayer vaccine products also will be thimerosal-free)."

Hello!
Thimerasol free is available in NY.
In NY State all children and pregnant women receive the one that is thimerosal" mercury " free. Good News!! I also wasn't going to get it. But after finding this out had it done. I feel fine as well. It also passes immunity to the baby. We just had 2 pregnant women die in NY State... they get the virus, turns into pneumonia, they went on life support, and died. Very scary!!!
Pregnant women can NOT get the nasal spray though!!
It's a tough call. I agree with TammyLynn.
