 Pregnancy after Mirena?
  2260 Views   21 Replies

NEW:I would also like to ask/add what if any symptoms people had after removal? I actually thought I was pregnant, had blood drawn just to come back negative. I am 5 days late, and have sensitive breast, weight gain, moodiness, abdominal aching/tugging not to be mistaken for cramping, white discharge, and heightened senses. I don't understand any of this, I don't recommend mirena for anyone who want future children. I didn't have to try to get pregnant the first and here I am now.
OLD:I have had my Mirena for almost 3 years and will be having it removed next Tuesday. Ive heard a lot of people have had trouble getting pregnant and was curious if anyone had something positive or up lifting to say?

My daughter just found out she is pregnant after being on Mirena.  She had it removed about nine months ago so it took her a little while to get pregnant. Her dr. said the lining of her uterus had to build back up.

The funny thing is,  she is now a month behind me and we get to be pregnant together!  She is 23 and I am 40.

God bless you....dont despair, it wont take long!

I had Mine removed today! I'm so excited! Now I just have to wait for the little blue plus sign.
Congratulations to both of you, what a unique and exciting experience!

I had my Mirena put in at my 6 week post natal check up for my son (beginning of July 2008) and removed at the end of May 2009.  I am already 10 weeks pregnant.  I think it really varies from person to person - but obviously no problems this way!

I had the Mirena for 6 months when I had it removed. It only took me 6 months to get pregnant. On the other hand, my step mom had it and it caused her to have a hysterectomy 3 months after hers was removed. Just make sure your careful, if you start bleeding very heavy you need to see your doctor. Otherwise I wish you all the best of luck.

Its reassuring to hear people with successful pregnancies after mirena. Ill I have ever read is horror stories. I had mine in for a year and had it removed in August. Im hoping to have success soon!

I guess I should have added that I had mine removed at the end of May, went on the Pill that very same day - took the Pill all through June.  Quit taking the pill for July and got a positive pregnancy test August 1.

When I had mine removed in August I bled about 3 days later for 5 days. What I think to be a period. I am now 34 days since that and no period. I feel pregnant but have taken home tests and all negative. I dont know what ot think. I dont want to go to the Dr and look stupid. But I have heard of people going 70 days without a period after removal. I wish I would have never had it put it.

Same here. Negative home test, and negative blood test. I wish I would have never gotten it as well. This experiencing is so maddening. I got pregnant unexpectedly on the pill so I chose a method that gave me more control and here I am with absolutely no control.I feel stupid for letting my Dr. give me false hope.
I wish you the best, hopefully it happens for both of us soon.

I'm going to call on Monday if my period doesnt come. Hoping they take me seriously. I know Im not pregnant (6 negative home tests) but I want some answers as to what is going on. I know there are ways to bring on or regulate a cycle they can give you.
